Read Across America is a great event in March in which we celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and literature. Williams sent home the flyer below:
Did you know that Dr. Seuss week is coming soon? Williams is so excited that we’re over the moon! Let’s celebrate Dr. Seuss and have some school-wide fun too. We will all be dressing up, will you? Join us during Read Across America week, February 27, 2017-March 3, 2017!
Monday: Green Eggs and Ham: Wear all GREEN!
Tuesday: Cat in the Hat: Wear a hat to school!
Wednesday: Fox in Socks: Wear some silly socks!
Thursday: Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Dress up as what you want to be when you grow up!
Friday: Sleep Book: Wear your pajamas!
The fun didn't stop there for our ELL groups this week. We also had literacy activities that corresponded with the Dr. Seuss read-alouds. Check out the pictures below which show the reading fun we had!
Kindergarten and Grade 1 enjoyed a rhyming egg hunt after reading Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat. On Fox and Sox day, Grade 1 also played a rhyming G0-Fish game!
On "Oh the Places You'll Go" day, we had an aspiring teacher, basketball player, and vet! Also, we did some buddy reading of "Fox in Sox" on Fox in Sox day.
In third grade, we read various Dr. Seuss books and then had to form an opinion about our favorite text and give reasons and examples why. Also, check out our crazy socks! In fourth grade, we discussed the characteristics of biographies and read two biographies about Dr. Seuss. Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Mrs. Farella and I) also made an appearance with our crazy red and white striped socks!
